What SingCupid collects, how it's used, and your rights under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
SingCupid (https://singcupid.com) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It is written to comply with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). By using SingCupid you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal data as described here.
1. Personal data we collect
- Account details: email address, password (stored hashed), date of birth, and gender.
- Profile details: display name, photos, region and neighbourhood, bio, interests, lifestyle answers, and match preferences.
- Sign-in data from Google or Facebook if you choose to register with a social account (name, email, and profile picture).
- Activity on the Service: profiles you view, likes, winks, matches, messages, forum and group posts, and search filters.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP, cookies, and usage logs.
- Anything you send us directly, such as support requests or reports about other members.
2. How we use your personal data
- To create and secure your account and verify that you are 18 or older.
- To show your profile to other members and to power matching, discovery, and messaging.
- To send you service emails such as match notifications, message alerts, and account notices (you can control most of these in Settings → Email Alerts).
- To keep the community safe: detecting fake accounts, scams, and behaviour that breaches our Terms & Conditions.
- To improve the Service through aggregated, de-identified analytics.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from Singapore authorities.
3. Who can see your data
- Other members can see the profile information you choose to share (name, age, photos, region, bio, prompts). Your email address, date of birth, and exact location are never shown to other members.
- Service providers who help us run SingCupid — for example hosting, email delivery, image storage, and analytics — process data on our behalf under contract and only for the purposes above.
- Authorities, where disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect the safety of our members.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Overseas transfers
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Singapore. Where that happens we take steps to ensure the recipient protects your data to a standard comparable to the PDPA.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but some features (including signing in) will not work without them.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and photos are removed from the Service and remaining personal data is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
7. Security
We protect your data with industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
8. Your rights
Under the PDPA you may:
- access the personal data we hold about you and ask how it has been used or disclosed in the past year;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- withdraw consent for specific uses (for example, marketing emails) — note that withdrawing consent essential to the Service may mean we can no longer provide it;
- delete your account, which you can do at any time from Settings → Cancel Account, or by emailing us.
You can download a copy of your data from Settings → GDPR, or email our Data Protection Officer at support@singcupid.com. We respond to requests within 30 days.
9. Children
SingCupid is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 and will delete such accounts when we become aware of them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here and, where appropriate, announced in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
